After DC & NY I was pretty sure kids would want to take it slow on our “travel day”. So we did what we like to do best on Day #12 – relax and sleep in. We strolled into the Boston South station completely relaxed and ready for a 18-ish hr train ride. We fet like pros.

The train from Boston to Chicago was interesting for kids – in Albany NY they combined the few cars from Boston with the cars coming from NY – took an hour but we moved between platforms and now our train was twice as long.
We got into Chicago ~10:30 am. Luckily our hotel allowed us to do an early check in – so we dropped our stuff and decided to make good use of our time. We had deep dish pizza for lunch and took a Chicago River Architecture tour. When it comes to Chicago style deep dish pizza – Lou Malnati’s is always a hit.

I had done the boat tour multiple times 6-8 years ago. But it is always fun, windy and you cant take enough photos. The tour reminded me why the City and the Loop area is one of my favorite places to be.

What’s a trip to Chicago without a trip to Navy Pier? Apparently the shuttle from Michigan Ave was not in operation so we had to rely on public transportation.

Our final destination for the evening was the Cheesecake Factory – to meet old friends for dinner. To come to Loop on a weekday, and spend as much time as they did – made me realize how much our friendship is valued. 😍 The other reason is – per my friend “I always feel smarter when I am around you.” 😂 I am glad man, I can make you feel smarter.

As we sat down, we got to see a picture from 10-years ago. It was a picture of our girls from November 2011 from my kids’ combined bday party at Chuck-e-cheese.
