We had a few hrs before our train to NY. So we decided to make use of the time and visit the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum. It had just opened the same week, after being closed because of Covid for 1+ year. Some exhibits were interesting while the others had huge crowds. We took it slow and skipped a few exhibits – as kids were ready to have a day off. 🙂

Apparently our Rail Pass gets us on Amtrak but not on Acela – the fastest train in US. Nevertheless Amtrak was pretty comfortable. Since this was a short distance train it was open seating. The train was more or less full but we still managed to get good seats.
We dont think a whole lot about train travel because most of us travel by planes and cars. However it is super convenient , comfortable and from talking to people on the train – there are a lot of people who use it on a regular basis.

Once we got into New York Penn station we chose to take Long Island Rail Road instead of NYC subway – faster, less crowded but more expensive.
